Professional Profile:
• One of the six founding members of Hindustan Computers Limited (HCL), which started in 1976 and generated $3 billion in revenue in 2005.
• Started India's first software exports factory in Singapore in 1980. He extensively covered South Asian Markets including Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and the People's Republic of China.
• Took over the reins of HCL Infosystems, the flagship company of the group in the area of hardware and system integration, as President and CEO in 1994.
• Appointed the Chairman of HCL Infosystems in November 1999.
• Member of the IT Hardware Task Force, set up by the Prime Minister of India.
• Spearheaded the cause of increasing PC penetration in the country. Worked closely with many Government bodies to give shape to the ‘IT for Masses’ program and the low-cost PC initiative in India.

• 'IT Man of the Year' by Skoch Consultancy, strategy and market consulting firm
• 'Best IT Man of the Year' by The Foundation of Indian Industry and Economists
• `Electronics Man of the Year' for 2006 by EFY Enterprises, publishers of some of India’s leading Information Technology trade publications, IT Magazine, Linux4u, etc.

• Bachelor's degree in electronics and communication engineering
• Executive Program at the School of Business Administration at the University of Michigan, U.S.
